Solar Water Heater
Solar water heaters make use of the sun’s power to give you hot water. They work using the thermal properties of the sun’s energy, rather than attempting to capitalize on the electrical properties. This makes a solar water heater more efficient in most instances than a solar panel. Solar water heaters do still use panels, but they are not photovoltaic panels.
The water heating solar panels are filled with a thermally absorbent liquid. This liquid has a boiling point well above that of water, and retains its heat well. The liquid can be pumped from the panels to transfer heat to a reservoir. This reservoir can then be used to heat water. The most drastic version of these systems boil the water to spin a turbine, creating electric power.
However there are commercially viable variations that can provide heating for your home or business. For instance, a solar water heater can be installed in your pool to heat the water. If you didn’t think you could afford a heated pool, think again. Unlike normal water heaters, a solar powered one does not incur continuing energy fees, it is self sustaining.
