Solar Power
Solar power is a quickly growing sector of the energy industry, and with good reason. The sun bombards the earth with more than three times as much energy each hour as humanity currently uses in an entire year. Energy supply has always been a principle limiting factor in economics, because the availability of energy to a population is always limited.
What we recognize now is not that the energy itself is limited, but that our capacity to harness the energy for our own use is what is limited. Solar power is limited not by how much power the sun showers the earth with, but by how much of that power we as human beings can harness, and how efficiently we can do so.
For instance, all the energy we use on earth is derived from solar power. Wind and tide are created by solar induced events. Plants and animals that died long ago lived and died under the same sun that we see today. Even nuclear power, one of the more controversial power sources, was reverse engineered from the fusion that is taking place within our sun as we speak.
